Viticulture

Organic viticulture is the process of adopting organic agricultural principles with an objective of producing quality wine. Although there is a lack of reliable rainfall and the cost of chemical fertilizers is rising, organic viticulture may present an opportunity to reduce the need for repeated interventions by traditional viticulturists. Quality wine produced through organic viticulture has the potential to satisfy the demands of an emerging market segment. However, converting from traditional viticulture to organic, or even biodynamic, requires careful strategic planning. For certain countries, for example Australia, getting certified cannot be accomplished in a short period of time. Most countries around the world are now implementing a lengthy and stringent certification process.
